These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between the users of GeoGPT (“users”, “you” or “your”) and the operating entities of GeoGPT (including Zhejiang Deep-time Digital Earth International Research Center and Zhejiang Lab, “we”, “us”, or “our”). These Terms govern your utilization of GeoGPT services, encompassing the website, application programming interfaces (“APIs”), and any other services presently offered or that may be provided in the future.
Please carefully read and fully understand these Terms, especially the contents highlighted for emphasis. Your use of GeoGPT constitutes your agreement to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to any content of these Terms, please do not use GeoGPT. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use GeoGPT.
GeoGPT aims to equip geoscientists with cutting-edge research tools, leading the way in transforming the current research paradigm in the field.
GeoGPT primarily provides the following services for you:
1.GeoGPT LLM: The GeoGPT LLM is a large language model which offers insights and assistance in the field of earth science research. You can engage in multi-round conversations with GeoGPT LLM in natural language, utilizing GeoGPT LLM for tasks such as data processing and generating data visualization images. You can access GeoGPT LLM through our website or the open API.
2.GeoGPT Labelling System: The GeoGPT labelling system allows researchers to annotate and label geospatial data, enabling the training and fine-tuning of the GeoGPT AI model for specific tasks and applications
3.Open Platform: The GeoGPT Open Platform provides geoscientists with a range of scientific research tools and services built upon geoscientific foundational models. It includes essential functions like the Reader, Extractor, KG Builder, and Map Generator, empowering geoscientists to conduct their scientific research effectively.
GeoGPT will be continuously adjusted and updated based on technological advancements, your feedback, and other factors, we may use the content you input (“Prompts”) and the generated content based on your Prompts (“Outputs”) to provide, maintain, improve, and develop the services of GeoGPT.
GeoGPT is primarily designed for scientists, researchers, and other professionals in the field of earth science. We also welcome non-professionals to use GeoGPT for acquiring knowledge in the field of earth science.
You need to register an account to fully access the services of GeoGPT. To complete the account registration, you are required to provide certain information, and you should ensure the truthfulness, completeness, and accuracy of the information you provide. In the event of any changes to the relevant information, you should promptly update your account.
Minors should use GeoGPT under the consent and guidance of the guardian.
You are responsible for taking reasonable measures to ensure the security of your account. You may not provide your account to any other person. If you discover any unauthorized use of your account, or any breach of the security of your account that could result in theft or loss of your account, you should immediately notify us (send e-mail to support.geogpt@zhejianglab.org), otherwise you are solely responsible for all activities that happens through your account. Please understand that we require a reasonable amount of time to take corresponding actions based on your notifications. We disclaim any responsibility for any losses or consequences that may have occurred prior to taking actions.
During your use of GeoGPT, the following behaviors are strictly prohibited:
1. Violating the specific license or intellectual property requirements when using content from Open Platform.
2. Engaging in activities such as illegal intrusion into servers, tampering with code, or any other actions that disrupt the normal operation of GeoGPT or interfere with others’ proper use of GeoGPT.
3. Engaging in any form of decompilation, reverse engineering, or utilizing any other means to acquire unpublished computer code, algorithms, data, or any unpublished content of GeoGPT.
4. Using GeoGPT for any illegal or harmful activities.
5. Using GeoGPT for commercial purposes or engaging in any commercialization of the Outputs.
When using GeoGPT LLM, you should pay special attention to:
1. You understand and agree that you grant us and our affiliated entities an irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, unrestricted, and global license to store and use (including but not limited to copying, editing, and distributing) the Prompts.
2. You understand and agree that the intellectual property and other rights of the Outputs belong to you or the subject entitled to rights under the law, and you should make your own independent judgment when using it. And we reserve the right to store, use (including but not limited to copying, editing, and distributing) the Outputs.
3. You are prohibited from inputting or inducing GeoGPT LLM to generate the following content:
(1) Any content unrelated to earth science research.
(2) Please understand that geoscience data may constitute national secrets or other content subject to strict restrictions in many jurisdictions, you may not input or induce GeoGPT LLM to generate any content that violates applicable laws and regulations regarding requirements for geoscience data.
(3) Any content that is unlawful, undermines national security and infringes upon the rights of any other person. Including but not limited to any content that incites subversion of state power, jeopardizes the security and interests of the state, tarnishes the image of the state, incites secession of the state, advocates terrorism, extremism, ethnic hatred, ethnic discrimination, violence, pornography, false and harmful information.
(4) Any unfriendly content, including but not limited to discrimination, derogation, insults, misinformation, and intimidation.
(5) Any trade secret which is used without the authorization of the rights holder.
(6) Any non-public personal information, or personal information which is used without the authorization of the rights holder, or any personal information of minors.
(7) Any content that violates the legal rights and interests of any third party (including but not limited to intellectual property rights, personality rights, privacy rights, etc.).
4. You may not, in any way, disrupt or circumvent filtering mechanisms of GeoGPT LLM.
5. You may not remove, alter, or conceal any artificial intelligence-generated identifiers added by us (including but not limited to watermarks, AI generation statements, etc.)
Please understand that we have the right (not the obligation) to review the Prompts and the Outputs to determine compliance with these Terms or applicable legal requirements.
If we identify any violation of these Terms or applicable laws and regulations, we reserve the right to issue warnings, restrict functions, temporarily or permanently suspend services, report to regulatory authorities or all other reasonable measures as appropriate. We disclaim any responsibility for any losses or damages that may result from the implementation of reasonable measures.
Unless otherwise specified, the intellectual property rights (including but not limited to copyrights, trademarks, patents, and other intellectual property rights) of the content of GeoGPT (including but not limited to trademarks, logos, text, images, audio, icons, copyright framework, website design, user interface, computer code, relevant data, or electronic documents, etc.) belong to us and are protected. However, the rights of relevant parties as stipulated by law and regulations are excluded. Without our prior written permission, no one is allowed to unauthorizedly use any intellectual property of GeoGPT. This includes but is not limited to illegal copying, dissemination, display, mirroring, uploading, downloading, or the complete or partial reproduction, republication, quotation, and linking of its materials. Any unauthorizedly use or promotion of the GeoGPT’s trademarks (including those registered and pending registration) is strictly prohibited.
You understand and agree that you do not transfer the intellectual property rights of the Prompts to us when you use our service. You should ensure that the Prompts do not infringe upon the legitimate rights and interests of any third party, including intellectual property rights.
If you believe your intellectual property rights have been infringed, please promptly contact us following the guidelines provided in the “Contact us” part of these Terms.
GeoGPT is in a continuous process of development and improvement, and all services are provided “as is” and “as available”. We will endeavor to maintain the security and stability of GeoGPT, but we disclaim any express or implied warranties or promises. For example, we do not guarantee that GeoGPT will be uninterrupted or error-free, we do not guarantee that the content of GeoGPT will be error-free or free from any infringement, and we do not guarantee that any content will not be lost or altered.In no event shall we be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages arising out of the use of or inability to use GeoGPT.
Our services may include products and services provided by third parties (e.g., through API, links, etc.). To the extent permitted by law, we cannot make any promises or guarantees regarding the products and services provided by third parties. When using these third-party products and services, you should comply with the terms of use and other requirements of the third party. In the event of any disputes, losses, or damages arising from the use of third-party products and services, you shall resolve them directly with the third party. We shall not be liable to you or any third party in this regard.
Special notice: The Outputs are based on artificial intelligence technology and existing data. We cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of the Outputs. The Outputs are not and cannot substitute for any professional advice, and do not represent our stance or viewpoint. The Outputs should not be your sole reference, and you should independently assess the accuracy, completeness, and reliability. Any consequences arising from your use of the Outputs are your responsibility. Please use GeoGPT in a scientific and reasonable manner.
You agree to indemnify and hold our harmless from any claim or other demands against us, including but not limited to litigation expenses, attorney fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of your violation of these Terms, other GeoGPT usage requirements and applicable laws and regulations.
We highly value your privacy and the security of your personal information.You can refer to our privacy policy for more detailed information regarding privacy and personal information protection.
Your use of GeoGPT must comply with the export control laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, sanctioning practices, and export control and sanctioning laws and regulations of other jurisdictions applicable to you. You may not use GeoGPT in a manner that violates the requirements of the export control and sanctions laws, regulations, and provisions of the People’s Republic of China and those applicable to you.
If you find any illegal or inappropriate content during your use of GeoGPT, or any violation of these Terms, or you believe your intellectual property rights or other rights have been infringed, you can contact us in the following manner. Upon receiving your report, we will conduct an investigation and take appropriate measures, it may be necessary to verify your identity in this process. Generally, we will complete the processing within 30 working days after receiving your report. In case of exceptional circumstances, we may appropriately extend the processing period and communicate with you in a timely manner.

If you want to have your content removed from our training data, you can contact us in the following manner. Upon receiving your report, we will conduct an investigation and take appropriate measures, it may be necessary to verify your identity in this process. Generally, we will complete the processing within 30 working days after receiving your report. In case of exceptional circumstances, we may appropriately extend the processing period and communicate with you in a timely manner.

The establishment, execution, and interpretation of these Terms, as well as any disputes or claims arising from the use of GeoGPT or the application of these Terms, shall be governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China (excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan).
Any disputes or claims arising from the use of GeoGPT or the application of these Terms shall be settled through amicable negotiation. In the event that negotiation fails, either party shall bring the dispute or claims before the competent court in the jurisdiction where the operating entities of GeoGPT are located.
Termination: The license granted to you under these Terms will automatically terminate if you violate any provision of these Terms. We reserve the right to suspend, modify, or terminate the license granted to you if you violate any provision of these Terms, especially the part of“Using GeoGPT”, or as required to comply with legal regulations.
Change: We reserve the right to modify or update these Terms at any time and will publish it in an appropriate manner. Unless otherwise specified, revisions or updates will take effect 7 days after the day of publication. You should check these Terms periodically to stay informed about any revisions or updates. If you continue to use GeoGPT after the revisions or updates take effect, it signifies your acceptance of the modified or updated contents. If you do not accept the modified or updated contents, please stop using GeoGPT immediately.
Severability: If any provision of these Terms is held to be or becomes invalid, illegal, or unenforceable under applicable law, the validity, legality, or enforceability of the remaining provisions shall not be affected or impaired thereby.
